 Virginia Gold Cup – Stewards Actions

1st  Race          Jockey Todd McKenna (YOUNG DUBLINER) was fined $250 for remounting and an additional $250 for continuing in the race.

 

5th Race         Jockey Tom Foley was fined $250 for "careless riding" aboard HAY GETOUTOFMYWAY, who was disqualified from second and placed third for interference.

 

Red Shirt Eligibility Rule

The NSA Hearing, Review and Appeals Committee has determined that the "Red Shirt" eligibility rule for the Sport of Kings series is no longer in effect.

 

Foxhunter’s Eligibility Rule Clarification

Horses must have hunted three or more times for at least half the hunting day by the rider of the horse with any foxhunting or beagle pack after September 1, 2004.

 

Attention Trainers

Once a horse has been entered on Tuesday it may not be withdrawn until scratch time on Wednesday.

 

Radnor

There will be a mandatory pre-race veterinary examination.  Also, all horses must be saddled in the barn.

 

Fair Hill – Extra Race

There will be an extra flat race for amateur lady riders.  Conditions are as follows:

For Three-Year-Olds and Upward.  To be ridden by amateur lady riders, six (6) of which will be foreign.  Three-year-olds, 155 lbs.; older 160 lbs.  Maidens allowed 5 lbs.  Entry fee $50.  The result of this race does not count toward a horse's official record.  A $500 award to the owner and the trainer of the winner.

The Foxhunter’s Chase (#122) has been cancelled. 

 

Philadelphia Park – Pennsylvania’s Day at the Races

Philadelphia Park will host a $50,000 Pennsylvania Bred steeplechase race named “The Flatterer Stakes” on Saturday, July 23, 2005 run at 2-1/16 over National Fences. 

 

Preliminary nominations (16) with trainer as of April 30, 2005 are as follows: BIRTH SIGN (Sheppard), BRINTON BRIDGE (McKenna), CAPITAL PEAK (S. Hendriks), COMANCHE STATION (Davies), FREE ADMISSION (Sheppard), I’M A BABE (R. Hendriks), MIXED UP (Sheppard), MOVE WEST (S. Hendriks), PARTY AIRS (Voss), SEATTLE BAND (Sheppard), SHADY VALLEY (Haynes), SUGAR HALL (A. Murphy), SWEEPS WEEK (S. Hendriks), TAKE HARRY (C. Miller), THREE CARAT (Sheppard), WHICI COAX (C. Miller).

 

Stage II nominations at a cost of $300 close on Saturday, June 25, 2005 with the NSA.
