Oakwood Stable
Bio: Oakwood Stable is the racing operation of Nicole H. Perry, the widow of William Haggin Perry, who died in 1993 at his home in Oakwood, Va. Perry raced several top flat horses, including Gamely, Lamb Chop, and Coastal. Oakwood had two wins from only three starts last year and earnings of $64,500. Both victories were by Country Cousin, winner of the David L. "Zeke" Ferguson Memorial Stakes (Gr. 3) at Colonial Downs in June. Trained by Julie Gomena, Country Cousin had two seconds in 2012 graded stakes races, in the Carolina Cup (Gr. 3) and the Temple Gwathmey (Gr. 3).
