Desmond Fogarty
Bio: Birthdate: June 16, 1973. Home: Butler, Md. Burst on the scene in 2009 as the private trainer of Irvin Naylor and had another good season in 2010 to rank fifth by wins with seven victories from 34 starts. Was fourth by earnings at $256,500. Major win was Tax Ruling's victory in the $150,000 Calvin Houghland Iroquois Steeplechase (Gr. 1). Trained 2009 timber champion Patriot’s Path, who capped a three-victory fall campaign with a win in the 2010 Pennsylvania Hunt Cup. Obtained an engineering degree in his native Ireland and gradually moved into full-time work as an exercise rider. Hired by Naylor in 2006 to take care of horses at the owner’s Still Water Farm in Butler and had his first start as a trainer that year.
