I love to go out on ze crisp mornings and train, but I find racetracks boring. Ho hum, left handed in a circle, blah blah blah. Give me a bit of variety, it is ze spice of life, no? Here in South Carolina I have a lot of places where I train, zere’s a big track, and a little one, and some fields, and some trails zat go in and out of woods, even a stream zat Herbie hates to jump, which makes me like it even more! And sometimes, I can gallop on ze “Cup Course”. We don’t go out on ze “Cup Course” often, but I love it when we do. It’s a racecourse, very European in nature, but not with rails- cones and flags and some hurdles zat zey never seem to let me jump. It has long straightaways and sweeping turns and one turn zat is sharper which is great for picking up speed and having a buck! Zere is a grandstand and as Herbie and I gallop down ze lane I pretend zat it is full of people cheering for me! It makes me smile and sometimes I buck a little just after ze wire for sport. I love ze “Cup Course” and I keep telling ze jockey and trainer zat I want to gallop on it more often. I always try to steer zem towards it if we are jogging by but I get “No Freddy, not today” and end up someplace not nearly as interesting. I wish I could be loose on ze “Cup Course” and zen I could go as fast as I please and when I don’t want to go fast anymore I could eat ze grass.
Maybe tomorrow…
