Ann Via, who often was at her husband’s side when he raced two-time steeplechase champion Good Night Shirt, died Friday afternoon, March 7, friends in Charlottesville, Va., reported.
Her husband, Harold A. “Sonny” Via Jr., owned the Concern gelding, who won Eclipse Awards in 2007 and 2008 as Thoroughbred racing’s steeplechase champion. Trained by Jack Fisher, Good Night Shirt is the second-leading all-time earner in National Steeplechase Association competition with $1,006,493 in purses.
