Members of the American Steeplechasing community are invited to participate in the third annual Chasin’ for Chalfin event at the Brandywine Polo Club in Toughkenamon, Pa., on Sunday, July 14. Gates open at 1 p.m., and the event will feature a barbeque, open bar, and a live bluegrass band starting at 5:30 p.m.
Also on the program are a polo match with the professional players of the Brandywine Polo Club, a special Jockey Chukker, an antique car show, and vendors. Guests at the polo grounds at 232 Polo Road are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy before the barbeque.
Tickets are $45 at the gate and $40 in advance through chasinforchalfin.com. A limited number of field-side tailgate spots are available for an additional $30. Proceeds from the event benefit the Jake Chalfin Beneficiary Trust, and 10% of the proceeds will go to the American Steeplechase Injured Jockeys Fund.
The trust and Chasin’ for Chalfin assist with the medical expenses and recovery of Jake Chalfin, a popular steeplechase jockey who was paralyzed from the chest down in an accident at the 2010 Blue Ridge Fall point-to-point.
