The High Hope Steeplechase on Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington will host three pony flat races this year in addition to their regular card of sanctioned steeplechase races. High Hope has partnered with U.S. Pony Racing, who will organize and carry out their pony races. Races to be carded are for small, medium, and large ponies at least five years of age. Races are open to riders who have not reached their 16thbirthday.
In partnership with the High Hope, the 2018 H.H. Sheikha Latifa Bint Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Racing Festival, the world’s richest Arabian horse racing festival boasting nearly $1.4-million in prize money, will be hosting an International Ponies Cup. The “Cup” will comprise a rider representing each of the following countries: Spain, Sweden, France, Belgium, New Zealand, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Riders participating in this international pony race are required to be between the ages of 10 an 14 years old on race day and will be provided mounts by the Festival. The qualifying rider earning the most points in the High Hope Steeplechase Pony Races will receive a trip to the Festival, along with their parents, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and have the opportunity to ride in an international pony race representing the United States on Nov. 9.
