The Temple Gwathmey Steeplechase Foundation (TGSF) and The Steeplechase Owners and Trainers Association (SOTA) will team up next Sunday to present the Fall Horseman’s Invitational Steeplechase Trials at Shawan Downs in Cockeysville, Md. Post time is noon.
The trials follow by a day the 18th annual Races at Shawan Downs featuring National Steeplechase Association-sanctioned races.
On tap for Sunday’s trials are:
Junior Flat Trial
Open to amateur jockeys age 14-18 years old.
About 7/8 miles on the turf. Catch Weights.
Entries must train or work under a licensed NSA trainer. Mounts must be currently in work with the NSA trainer.
Amateur/Apprentice Flat Trial
Open to NSA-licensed Amateur Apprentice jockeys.
About 1 3/8 miles on the turf. Catch Weights.
Flat Trial
Open to NSA-licensed jockeys and horses that have started in an NSA-sanctioned race.
About 1 3/8 miles on the turf. Catch Weights.
Open Flat Trial
Open to jockeys and horses acceptable to the committee.
About 1 3/8 miles on the turf. Catch Weights.
Entries will remain open through Wednesday at 5 p.m.
