A memorial service to celebrate the amazing life of Elizabeth Mead “Betty” Merck will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 182 Main Street in Gladstone, N.J. Mrs. Merck, 95, a prominent steeplechase owner and a director of the Far Hills Racing Association, died Friday, April 3, at The Fields, her home in Bedminster Township.
She is survived by her three children, Antony M. Merck (Ann Wimberley), Josephine A. Merck (James Stevenson), and George F. Merck (Adele Shook); six grandchildren, Oona Coy and Morgan Coy, Elizabeth Merck Lake and Elliott Merck, and George Merck and Grace Merck; and six great-grandchildren.
