From Press Release, January 16, 2021
The Board of the Charlotte Steeplechase Foundation has made the difficult decision to run this year’s races on April 24th but without an audience due to the pandemic. The choice to run at all was based on giving horsemen and horses in training an opportunity to compete, bolstering a sport which continues to suffer from the loss of opportunities due to the on-going pandemic.
Live streaming of the day’s races will be available so all of our patrons can watch the racing action from the comfort and safety of their homes. More information will be sent in the coming weeks.
With little to no income over the past two years, we are encouraging “Friends of the Queen’s Cup” to help ensure its financial future by making a tax deductible donation to the Charlotte Steeplechase Foundation by clicking here. A portion of all donations will go to our charity partner, the Alzheimer’s Association.
Finally, a shout-out to our 2021 Sponsors, who as of this writing, have agreed to help underwrite a portion of this year’s races; Sonitrol Security, Brown Advisory, NOVANT Health, Hoopaugh Grading, EasyFix, TruGreen and White Claw Hard Seltzer. Please consider supporting these companies as they have supported the Queen’s Cup.
Thank you again for your continued support of this wonderful spring tradition in the Charlotte region. Let’s hope for better days ahead and a return of the Queen’s Cup with an audience in 2022.
