Rufus MacQueen Gibbs Williams, of Glyndon, Md., beloved husband of steeplechase horse owner Sheila Janney Williams for 61 years and a member of the DASH Stable with daughter Sheila Fisher, died Sept. 30.
Williams frequently attended steeplechase meets and went to the winner’s circle with his wife and their trainer, son-in-law Jack Fisher. DASH Stable, which represents Dad and Sheila, races Ice It, the steeplechase three-year-old champion in 2015.
He also was the devoted father of Barbara Horneffer, Rufus M.G. Williams, Jr., and Richard Janney Williams; and the loving grandfather of six. He was predeceased by a sister and two brothers.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 4, at St. John’s Church Western Run Parish, 3738 Butler Rd., Reisterstown, Md. Interment was in St. John’s Church Cemetery.
