Advance-purchase tickets are still available for the third annual Chasin’ for Chalfin event at the Brandywine Polo Club in Toughkenamon, Pa., on Sunday, July 14. Gates open at 1 p.m., and the event will feature a barbeque, open bar, and a live bluegrass band starting at 5:30 p.m.
Also on the program are a polo match with the professional players of the Brandywine Polo Club, a special Jockey Chukker, an antique car show, and vendors. Guests at the polo grounds at 232 Polo Road are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy before the barbeque.
Tickets are $45 at the gate and $40 in advance through chasinforchalfin.com. A limited number of field-side tailgate spots are available for an additional $30. Proceeds from the event benefit the Jake Chalfin Beneficiary Trust, and 10% of the proceeds will go to the American Steeplechase Injured Jockeys Fund.
The trust and Chasin’ for Chalfin assist with the medical expenses and recovery of Jake Chalfin, a popular steeplechase jockey who was paralyzed from the chest down in an accident at the 2010 Blue Ridge Fall point-to-point.
