Guy J. Torsilieri, co-chairman of the Far Hills Races in New Jersey, has been re-elected president of the National Steeplechase Association. Torsilieri, who served his first one-year term as president in 2009, was elected at a meeting of the NSA Board of Directors on Friday, Jan. 20, in Herndon, Va.
Also re-elected were Beverly R. Steinman as chairman; P. Douglas Fout as vice president, and Charles W. Strittmatter as treasurer.
Joining the slate of officers was Dwight Hall, who was elected secretary. Hall, chairman of the Iroquois Steeplechase in Nashville, also serves as the head of the NSA’s Stewards Advisory Committee, which coordinates training for NSA race stewards and other officials. He succeeded Peter Fenwick, who completed his second three-year term on the Board of Directors.
Attending their first board meeting as NSA directors were W. Patrick Butterfield, longtime director of the Foxfield Racing Association in Charlottesville, Va., and Donald Yovanovich, co-chair of the International Gold Cup in The Plains, Va. Earlier in the day, Yovanovich had presided at his first meeting as chairman of the Race Chairmen’s Committee.
