A well-matched field of nine jump-racing newcomers will line up Wednesday for Saratoga Race Course’s $65,000 allowance hurdle over 2 1/16 miles.
Jack Fisher, the reigning champion trainer, will send out Duodecim Stable’s All for Us and Causeworthy, owned by Sheila Williams and Northwoods Stable. In his first start over fences, All for Us won at Nashville’s Iroquois Steeplechase on May 14 and was a fast-closing second in a Monmouth Park Ratings Handicap on June 17.
In his inaugural start at Saratoga on July 27, he was caught behind Kensington Court’s front-running pace and picked up third money. Connor Hankin has the return mount.
Causeworthy won his maiden victory over fences at the Queen’s Cup in North Carolina on April 30 and then ran fifth against a tough allowance field at the Radnor Hunt Races on May 21. He finished eighth in the Monmouth Ratings Handicap. Sean McDermott, who has ridden Causeworthy throughout his jumps career, will ride.
Virginia Lazenby’s Help From Heaven chased Kensington Court in the Saratoga allowance hurdle and finished second, beaten 14 1/2 lengths. In his prior start, the Divine Park four-year-old has scored an authoritative maiden victory at Monmouth on June 17. Kieran Norris has the mount.
Bernie Dalton takes over the riding assignment for Welcome Here Farm’s Second Amendment for trainer Elizabeth Merryman. The National Anthem six-year-old has two second-place finishes in tough allowance hurdles this year.
Dyna’s Vow, owned by Amy Taylor Rowe, finished fourth in Saratoga’s July 27 allowance hurdle. Paddy Young, returning from a fall at Parx Racing in July, will ride Dyna’s Vow for his wife, trainer Leslie Young.
